Open Letter To Every … American?
An Open Letter To Everyone
Who Is Not Happy
With What’s Currently Going On
Within Our Government:
Now that Glenn’s March 13th event, has come and gone, and now that we’ve had our April 15th Tea Parties, I think we all understand and agree that the time for talk is done; now is the time for action.
What if I told you that there are indeed actions you can take to stop any further government bailouts from occurring, AND that you could stop the stimulus money from getting spent? That in essence, you could begin to reverse some of our government’s misguided actions?
Are you on board with that?
If you are, I’d like to share my ideas with you and when I’m done explaining, I’ll ask that each of you to take definitive action immediately to apply the brakes on the hurtful actions our government is taking.
If you are on board with stopping the bailouts and you will read everything I’m saying here, then I promise you that I can show you how to take concrete EFFECTIVE action that will actually work. (You will learn things you did not know and “The truth shall make you effective.”)
Let me start by listing what won’t work:
A march on Washington will not accomplish anything
Neither will boycotts
pickets = no results
peaceful demonstrations - proven 0% effective
signing petitions - a waste of ink
“writing your congressman” - yeah, tell me how well that worked for you on the bailout?
starting a 3rd party - that’s usually good for 1.7% of the vote, give or take 1%
“campaign finance reforms” will accomplish nothing
“Publicly financed election campaigns” will accomplish nothing
People and groups have been trying and/or doing all of these things that I’ve listed above and here is a full list of what those “concrete actions” have accomplished:
First, one election cycle ago, In November 2006, Congressional approval rating was at an all time low of 16%….and then 94% of all incumbent congressman were re-elected.
Second, 3 months ago, in November 2008 and one month AFTER the bailouts were passed, Congressional approval ratings were at a new all time low of only 9%…as in single digit approval…and this time 96% of all incumbent congressman were re-elected.
Third, If 96% of incumbent re-election wasn’t sad enough for you try this one out: Remember the Congressmen who voted FOR the bailouts? A little over 98% of those guys were re-elected 3 months ago. Read those 3 facts again slowly and let them sink in.
When Congressional approval ratings are going down and Congressional re-election rates are going up you have to realize that there is something going on that we don’t know about.
And when Congress specifically ignores the unprecedented overwhelming constituent response they had against the bailouts and they then get re-elected…you have to begin to realize that something is going on behind the scenes that most of us aren’t yet clued into.
Until we realize that Congress is distracting us from looking at the left hand while it does “magic” with it’s right, you’ll waste your time with petitions and “Marches on Washington” and “writing your congressman” because they know they can fool you and ignore you and still keep getting re-elected because they know that we don’t know (until now) what they are doing or how to stop it.
Here is what’s going on in Washington:
- In 1974, by a simple majority vote, Congress voted to change the way our Federal Budget was and still is created to this very day.
- It’s important to note that this happened in 1974 so that no one is under the misconception that the current system of out of control Congressional fiscal irresponsibility is something that goes back to the Days of the Founding fathers…or something FDR implemented.
Nope. It was set in motion only 34 years ago.
- Since 1974, special interest groups have progressively figured out how to buy your elected officials and manipulate the budget process to get the MAXIMUM amount of money out of that system with the LEAST amount of public exposure…and in exchange, the special interest groups are funding the perpetual re-election campaigns of the Congressmen who are funneling the money to them.
And it WORKS!
Here are the recent results of this phenomenon to date:
- In the 2006 election cycle, The American Financial Elite (who happen to make up less than 1/12th of 1% of American Adults), plus the Special Interest PACS were responsible for over 81% of ALL campaign donations.
The final numbers for the 2008 election cycle have not completely been compiled yet but from what we have seen so far, the disparity was even wider in 2008 than it was in 2006.
- If those 1/12th of 1% of the American Financial Elite who can vote (Thats only 1 out of 800 people) and their special interest PACS donated 81%, then that means that the OTHER 99.92% of us…that would be you and I, the other 799 out of 800 people…were only able to cough up less than 1 out of every 5 dollars a congressional candidate needs to get elected. We’re being out matched, out gunned, and out spent.
Soo…how much do you think your average incumbent congressman really cares about what the general taxpaying public wants…again, thats you and me…when the special interest groups can out deliver us by more than 4 to 1 in hard dollars?
- You know that money I mentioned in heading letter A? Well just over 90% of THAT money is donated to INCUMBENTS from both parties. 47% to 53% is given to the Democrats and the other 47% to 53% is given to the Republicans.
This means that the majority of these special interest groups don’t really care which party the candidate is from or what their platform is. And it’s very apparent that they don’t care because they just hand out the money in relatively equal proportion to candidates in BOTH parties election cycle after election cycle. They only care about the return on their financial investment. After all, that’s just good business, isn’t it?
- So after the incumbents of BOTH parties get over 90% of ALL the special interest money, what WE the People get is that since 1974 an overall total of over 94% of ALL INCUMBENTS have been re-elected.
|
Think about that. Through the Post Nixon backlash years The Carter years The Reagan years The Bush years The Clinton years …and through Dem controlled Congresses and Republican controlled Congresses… |
94% of the incumbents keep getting re-elected? Really?
How is that possible?
Remember that I promised you this info will eventually lead you to how we can EFFECTIVELY stop further bailouts and stop the stimulus money from getting handed out….so let me re-point out a very critical point here:
You must accept for now that “Campaign Finance Reform” will not fix this problem. It’s a smokescreen to appease you, the voting public. If Campaign Finance Reform were really the answer wouldn’t the McCain/Feingold act have taken care of this problem once and for all? Actually it created more loopholes which made it worse
If you can’t accept this, you will end up wasting valuable time for ZERO return…and the special interest groups will keep pilfering the Treasury via “earmarks” and “Bailouts” and “economic stimulus” while we rail and gnash our teeth and we’ll still be wondering why the “Mccain Feingold Campaign Finance reforms” never worked….and why the incumbent Congressmen we oppose keep getting re-elected.
To help explain this, let’s look at who RECIEVED Bailout money and those who HANDED out the bailout money. You’ll be as mad as I am when you start to connect the dots and see why the bailout even passed to begin with
- First of all, you can all watch an ongoing update of who is getting bailout money that is updated within hours of any TARP money getting allocated by clicking on this link: http://www.propublica.org/special/show-me-the-tarp-money
- Now, the last time we looked at that data…2:16am Mountain Daylight time on Tuesday 3/10/09…you will see that a total of 473 financial institutions plus 2 car companies have received ALL of the Bailout money.
- 473 is interesting, because the most recent FDIC report, from December 2007, reported that there were 8,533 financial institutions in this country.
- So….if a total of ONLY 473 of those 8,533 institutions received any bailout TARP money… That’s only 5% of financial institutions which is surprising since this was sold to us as an unprecedented nationwide crisis, right?
- However, what should really catch your attention is that only 21 financial institutions plus 2 car companies received OVER 90% of all TARP bailout money.
- Only 23 institutions sucking up over 90% of the bailout money raised our suspicions, and we wanted to know exactly how much money each of these 23 companies donated to the Republicans and Democrats who made this bailout possible.
- So we began looking at how much money originated from the 23 institutions who benefited from 90% of all bailout money, and started looking to see how much of their money ended up in the campaign coffers of the following 6 Leaders Senator Bob Bennett(R) Senator Harry Reid (D), President Barack Obama (D), Presidential candidate John McCain(R), Senator Lindsey Graham(R) and Senator Chris Dodd (D).
Want to know what we’ve found so far? We thought you’d never ask!
- But first of all, please notice that we are looking at BOTH Democrats and Republicans, not one or the other. This is NOT a Democrat party problem and it is NOT a Republican party problem. (This is an INCUMBENT party problem!). Ok, having noted that, here is what we are currently finding:
- We are only about 50% of the way through the data, but extrapolating from that 50% that we have completed, I believe that when we complete the research we will be able to show:
- Somewhere between 65% and 75% of ALL campaign donations ever received by all of the Democrats and Republicans we just listed above came from the 23 institutions and the lobbyists that they hired. (read that again slowly!)
- More than half of ALL combined campaign donations ever received by the Democrats and Republicans who voted for the bailouts will be able to be shown to have come from these 23 institutions and the lobbyists that they hired.
Does that just blow your mind?
Remember, this information is to explain how to EFFECTIVELY do something about this, so don’t leave us just yet.
The last open letter will tell you EXACTLY what you can do, right now today, to stop all of this from happening. But first, take a few minutes to watch these three videos and see just how the special interests have taken over the government from “We the People.”
http://www.ourcaucus.com/Article2-1.html
http://www.ourcaucus.com/Article2-2.html
So those videos explain how the special interests buy influence
and get paid back in earmarks, but does that really explain
how they get SO MUCH MONEY into their campaign coffers?
The next open letter answers the following question that almost everyone asks when we tell people about this aspect of special interest money…
“Since there are specific campaign donation limits, how is it possible that 23 financial institutions could be responsible for up to 75% of any one Senators campaign donations? How is that possible?” Click below for the answer
